The town and its neighbourhoods
The town centre runs along the High Street and the river, with the Town Hall, Clock Tower and retail parks close by. Surrounding it are settled residential neighbourhoods including Barnes Cray to the south-west, Perry Street to the north, and Slade Green a little further north towards the marshes. To the north of the town lie the open Crayford Marshes.
Transport
Crayford railway station offers Southeastern services towards London Charing Cross and Cannon Street and towards Dartford and Gravesend. Buses connect the town to Bexleyheath, Erith and Dartford, and the A2 and M25 (via the Dartford Crossing) are close by.
Shopping and amenities
Crayford is a genuine retail hub, with Tower Retail Park and large supermarkets on Crayford Road, plus the High Street's independent shops, pharmacies and takeaways. A GP surgery, pharmacies and dental practices serve the town.
Schools
Several schools sit on and around Iron Mill Lane on the southern edge of the town, including Haberdashers' Crayford Academy (secondary and sixth form), Haberdashers' Crayford Primary, and St Paulinus Church of England Primary School.
Green space
Despite the retail bustle, the River Cray, Waterside Gardens, local parkland and the wide-open Crayford Marshes give the area plenty of accessible green space.
