Barnes Cray is a residential neighbourhood on the south-western side of Crayford, close to the River Cray and the boundary with Dartford. Part of the area grew alongside Crayford's industrial history, including housing associated with the Vickers works, and it remains a settled residential community today.

Barnes Cray is largely residential, with local shops and easy access to Crayford town centre and the retail parks a short distance to the north. Maiden Lane and the surrounding streets connect the area to the wider road network.

The River Cray and its associated green corridor run close to Barnes Cray, offering walking routes down towards the Cray's confluence with the Darent and the Thames marshes beyond.
